January 18, 2024 in Employee Engagement, Performance Management, Retail Community Corner, Retail Trends, Workforce Management

Just like that, the Super Bowl of retail has ended. This year, StoreForce tackled NRF 2024 with full steam. Our time was spent engaging with countless Specialty Retailers, and we were so happy to see clients like Vuori and Snipes stop by our booth.

During our time at NRF, we asked retailers what their biggest challenges in retail are. Believe it or not, these answers were quite interesting. StoreForce identified four critical challenges that resonate with retailers across the board:

1. Actionable Insights in the Moment (37% of voters): In the fast-paced world of retail, having real-time, actionable insights is crucial. StoreForce found that retailers are grappling with the need for instant access to relevant retail labor metrics and analytics to make informed decisions on the spot.

2. Employee Retention (30% of voters): The retail industry faces ongoing challenges in retaining skilled and motivated staff. Employee turnover can lead to increased training costs, decreased productivity, and a negative impact on customer experience. StoreForce recognizes this as a vital issue that retailers are actively working to address.

3. Overspending on Labor (17% of voters): Retailers constantly seek ways to optimize their operations, and retail labor costs are a significant component of that equation. Many retailers expressed concerns about overspending on labor without achieving proportional returns.

4. Lack of Brand Consistency (16% of voters): Maintaining a consistent brand image across various channels and touchpoints is challenging for many retailers. StoreForce observed that ensuring uniformity in branding is a persistent concern, affecting customer perception and loyalty.
